This is for my friend, Lisa D. I'd never heard of this song before she told me about it when we worked together a few years ago. Now, every year I look forward to hearing it at least once a season. I've been so sad this year because I haven't heard it yet, so I took the hippo by the tail and found it to share with y'all.
Peace, Blessings and HIPPO HUGS!
That is such a cute song. And it stopped the baby from crying. (the baby loves anything youtube related anyway - anytime he gets to fussy, I put on any singing video from youtube, and he shuts right up and sits there and watched the videos, he is so funny, LOL)
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to send that to my mom, she will like that, LOL.

LOL!! It stopped your baby from crying and my bird from skwaking! She was actually dancing around on my shoulder bobbing her head the whole time I was listening to it! Aren't our critters cute!
ReplyDeleteHope your mama enjoys it. Tell her HI from your Damama! ;o) xoxo
I'm not positive about this, but I'm pretty sure that song originated in Kansas City, Missouri. We used to have a rock and roll radio station and their mascot was a hippo so, if memory serves, they had this song written for them. It became quite popular. Now maybe they just found it by coincidence, but I do recall one of the DJ's commenting it was their song one time. I've always thought it was a fun song.
ReplyDeleteHi Deb! Isn't it funny how stories get started! According to Wikipedia the storie goes like this. But then who knows if Wikipedia is even right? Right!?!? LOL!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and have a great Christmas if I don't see you before then!
I LOVE that song!! I heard it the year that Rhett was born. I was sitting there holding a 4 1/2 lb baby sobbing my eyes out because it was so hard for him to eat due to his heart defect. He would take three sucks and just pant and sputter milk all over.
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard that song I just had to laugh, and I looked at him and told him thats all I wanted for Christmas was for him to EAT like a hippopotamus! He looked at me, like okay crazy lady I am trying here!
It didn't work much he still was only 7 lbs at 4 months when he had his heart surgery. But now look at him! I got my Christmas wish, just a couple of years later. He just weighed in at 32 lbs and is only 2!
I know that was probably not what you were expecting me to post, but hey, I am full of suprises!!
HUGS!!
Pam- God gives us reminders that He is there and working His miracles all the time - we just don't always recognize them for what they are. And it never ceases to amaze me how clever He can be in the choice of how they're delivered. I'm honored that my post was used to remind you that He is answering your prayers in His time, according to His plan for Rhett.
ReplyDelete32 lbs! Wow! Absolutely AWESOME! xoxoxoxo
