Lest I forget...some more.

We took some really neat pictures with my nephew and his family, but when I look at this one all I see is the big blue blob in the middle. I'm posting it here to solidify in my mind why I HAVE to lose weight.

Damama T, Cameron, Tyler

I did pretty well today. Until tonight. Hubby went to bed at 9:30 and I intended to just get a post up and then join him. Then I got sidetracked, and bogged down, and couldn't think of anything to post. And I drained the last of the water from my glass. And I went to the kitchen to refill it. And I saw the caramel corn my friend made me for Christmas. I don't really like the fact that it had peanuts in it, but... Just one bite of the popcorn part.... And another. And... Well, I might as well finish it off so it won't be here nagging me tomorrow. And now I'm sitting here feeling like a total failure. Why didn't I just throw it away?

Thank God for new mercies every morning. I will start again in the A.M. And I will do better.

One day at a time, right?

Peace, Blessings, and God grant me the serenity.

  2. It could have been much worse, you could have eaten an entire pound of fudge.
    Not that I've ever done that.......

    Hang in there.

  3. We owned a fitness center for 16 years and observed over and over again how difficult a task it is. I was thin most of my life until about 56 or 57.Losing weight is the hardest thing I've ever done.

    Here is what I'm trying to do for those late night munchies: keep 4 oz. cans of V-8 juice around, 3-4 oz containers of liquid yogurt, red grapes, baby carrots, and some saltines. The big trick is making sure I grab those rather than fritos and cream cheese or spoon out of the jar natural peanut butter - no bread because that is too fattening. lol

    I've a picture at my desired weight that I stand in front of and say, "I'm going to weigh 120." 125-130 would be just fine, but I know exactly what I weighed in that picture.

    God bless.

  5. Boy can I relate. I notice if I keep to 1500 calories I lose weight. Last night I was a little under so when My husband was eating chocolate I had some. THEN, I looked at the label. 230 calories I ate.
    My best help for evenings is to have a container of fresh raw vegetables in the fridge.
    You are right about the just throw it out re: the tempting stuff.
    Best luck to all of us.

  6. I am right there with you, and I know why you didn't throw it away. It's hard to throw away perfectly good, thoughtfully made yummies. So - I allow myself a taste. THEN, I give ALL of what's left to one of my daughters to take home with them, or send it to work with my husband for the lunch room table. A couple years ago, I took all our left over pies, pumpkin rolls, and cookies to a group of hunters that were at their camp across the road from our house. They were tickled, and walked it all off the next day in the woods.

    Cutting out the after dinner eating is my first sure fire way that I lose weight. A cup of chicken broth from chicken base is satisfying and holds me in there, sometimes. Celery - no calories, with enough peanut butter so I can just smell it and taste a tiny bit give me that crunch satisfaction instead of chips.

    WE CAN DO THIS! WE CAN WIN!

  7. Every day is a new day with new opportunities.

    By the way, when I look at the picture, I see a happy person with two fun nephews. Oh and a warm yard in December -- it is 12 degrees here.

  8. This is the exact reason that I am rarely photographed. I still cringe when I look at some of my wedding photos. Sadly, I have a medical condition that prevents me from losing any weight. It is very frustrating and I can relate to the little moments of weakness. I think we are all guilty of that at one time or another.

    As you said, today is a new day and all you can do is try and stay strong and stay away from the 'naughty' foods.

    Best of luck with your continued weight loss efforts.

  9. Oh, it's so hard! I bought chocolates for family visitors, and then the weather prevented the visits. Now there are no chocolates, and I knew exactly what I was doing when I ate them - all!

  10. Amy - Will do... and the next day and the next and... ;o) Thanks!

    Jillybean - LOL! Nope, the closest I ever got was 1/2 a pound. But you've given me something to aspire to. LOL!
    =============
    Lynn - Great ideas. Thank you. I wish somebody'd come up with gym classes for the 50/50 crowd - People over 50 who need to lose over 50 lbs. Would make walking in so much easier! Maybe you can pass that on to some of your gym-owning friends. All I'd want is a 50% discount for the idea. heh heh heh ;o)

    Thanks for stopping by!
    =============
    Grandmamargie - With all the pictures you USE TO share with me (hint hint hint) I guess it's about time you saw one of me. LOL! Hugs, darlin.

    J.B. - 1500 is a good target for me, too, as long as I add in some daily strenuous motion. Of course, for me, getting out of the chair is strenuous motion! ROFL! ;o)

    That chocolate craving is KILLER! I keep some sugar-free coconut thingies (Russel Stover's Mounds knockoffs) in the cabinet so I can have my fix and not wreck my blood sugar level.

    Raw veggies get so old so fast -- both literally and figuratively -- but you're right, they're definitely better than chocolate. LOL!
    =============
    Annie - ANNIE!!!!! THERE YOU ARE!!! I was beginning to think we'd lost you forever, girl!

    You are so right about sending stuff to work. People in an office will literally eat ANYTHING. Amazing! LOL!

    I like the broth idea. I'll have to get some. Thanks! See you soon.
    =============
    Brandi - Thanks, honey. I'm just glad I don't have 6 little mouths to try to keep fed in the process. THAT would be killer!
    =============
    Robin - Thank you. The person in that picture is a very happy person who loves those boys to pieces. Wish they lived closer so I could spoil them more. ;o) Stay warm!
    =============
    Tanya - I see your wedding picture up there. You were a beautiful bride! Medical conditions that prevent you from accomplishing life goals stink. I guess the main thing is to not give up on all goals because of one limitation. ;o)
    =============
    Dragonstar - LOL! Well, at least those nasty chocolates are gone now and you don't have to worry about them call your name ever again. ;o)
