Ike...
The expression on her face and the plaque just about cover what we are all feeling right now at our house.
We are staying. The wind and rain don't scare me. The possibility of rising water does. However, we are 55 miles north of Galveston in an area that was deemed voluntary evacuation only. Most of our neighbors are staying, also. Hopefully, by the time the water gets here we won't have more than a few inches in the house if any at all. What is really strange to me is that only about 6 houses in the whole 200+ subdivision have boarded up their windows. I didn't even see any with duct tape on them to keep them from totally shattering.
I've signed up on Twitter and (if I can friggin' figure out how - geesh I feel stupid!) will try to keep updating on my phone as often as possible if we lose power so I can't do it online.
Please keep us and the whole Gulf Coast region in your prayers. This is gonna get really ugly before it's over.
And if, God forbid, the worst should happen (no I'm not expecting it to or being morbid, just covering bases), shed a few tears if you must, but then go have a party and remember how much this crazy old woman loves life and all her kids. Especially the three that are mine and the one that should have been.
Peace, Blessings, and Dry too tootsies to all.

Hi there! We'll be thinking about you! I have twitter and wanted to click to follow you on twitter but I don't see it here? Help! You can click to follow mine on my blog and then I can add you!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah and I have something for you on my blog too!
Hang in there and be safe. I will keep you in my thoughts this weekend, along with so many others.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I do hope Ike is kind to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand Twitter. I don't even know what it is (how thick is that?)
Prayers going out to you and all in Ike's path.
ReplyDeleteYa know, you could evacuate and come on up here and help us move this weekend! Supposed to be dry up here even!
(LOL was worth a try)
My thoughts are with you. My fingers crossed and sending you lots of luck. :)
ReplyDeleteThinking about you and your family and everyone who will be affected by this storm.Take care and be safe!!
ReplyDeleteBeen thinking about you and your family. Hoping all is okay and you had no damage or water. Looked to me like a lot of the rain was north of Galveston a bit. Are you okay?
ReplyDeleteKEEP BELIEVING
We're praying for you and your neighbors!
ReplyDeleteStay safe!
ReplyDeleteMy friend Jen, aka http://soldiergrrrl.livejournal.com/profile is in army public affairs as a reservist. She is down near Houston this weekend. She should have some eye catcing photos and an article up when she has the time.
Thinking of you Damama, after watching the TV news. They said Ike was less strong than Katrina, but larger!!! It covers the entire Texas seen from the Space. I know that power is off in the most part of Houston.
ReplyDeletePlease, give us some good news as soon as possible.
"If the worst should happen" ??? Not Damama talking! Or a Damama, very disheartened.
You still get to reopen the political debate! Very interesting seen from abroad.
Send you best wish from France.
Yep, now I feel like a complete idiot. I saw you joined Twitter and some of your comments but I hadn't read this post. I didn't know you lived in Texas and thought your were north of us. So, my comment to you on Twitter is completely stupid! It looks like you survived the worst though. I hope all is well and you don't have too much cleanup!
ReplyDeleteI know you can't check in if your power's still out (which it's bound to be!) but I wanted you to know we're all still thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteHUGS!
I will certainly pray for you all. We have massive wind here in Kentucky and it's been raining for 3 days straight, but it is nowhere near what you guys have to deal with, I can only imagine what you are going through. I hope I never experience a hurricane personally and feel for those who do. Hang in there though, hopefully it will subside soon. If you do have to evacuate, you can always come to KY! Love ya.
ReplyDeleteI spoke with Damama this morning. She wanted me to post a comment here, where hopefully folks will hear the news. They're fine. Ike took out the power, and there's a little garage roof damage. :)
ReplyDeleteBlog as soon as you can Damama, I am thinking about you and saying a prayer. We got the Ike leftovers today and he was still pretty amazing (but not in a good way.)
ReplyDeleteGod Bless you and yours Damama...Hurricanes ain't no fun that is for sure. I have a post coming this week on the anniversary of Ivan's remnants hitting the north. UGH.
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it through OK, praying for the whole area.
Pax, E
We are praying for you. I await a follow-up post to hear that you are all well.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear all is well! We hope to be hearing from you again soon!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad things weren't any worse. Let us hear from you as soon as you can. Love, Margie
ReplyDeleteOur friends in Houston just got their phones back yesterday. They still have no power. I hope you are doing okay.
ReplyDeleteHope everything is going alright there!! Can't wait ot hear an update as to how you all are doing.
ReplyDeleteHI EVERYONE! Thanks for keeping tabs on me over the past week. I feel so special! Things are getting better... will have a new post ups shortly. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean you have your power back?
ReplyDeleteThere are still some here in Ohio who are still without power. I think we got our back so quickly (40 hrs.) because we live on an emergency route.
I'm looking forward to your next post!
