OTHER PEOPLE'S STUFF

GOOOOOOOD MOOOORNIIIIIIG BLOGGERLAND! Would you look at this! I am up at 8:27 a.m. Have been since 7:30 or so. And I'M AWAKE!! Not sitting here staring at the black TV screen wondering why I'm vertical in the bed. Not doing the head bob thing like the people in that new commercial for a seriously over-caffeinated beverage. WHY?? Because I'm turning over a new leaf. I'm going to try to quit staying up until 2-3-4 a.m. and then sleeping until 9:30 or so (10:30-11-...). This may not last, but at least I'll know that I tried! The weird part is that I actually feel pretty good this morning. LOL! Who knew! OK - on to the post at hand.

A while back I added a thing on my sidebar called "Some neat places and great posts to go check out." It's way down toward the botton, and I tend forget about it myself unless I find something cool to add there, so I'm sure y'all mostly miss it altogether. Well, no more. I'm going to start point out when I add something over there instead of just leaving it to chance that you'll see it.

So far there's a link to a fun look back at a 1977 JCPenney catalog. By the way, I wore a few of those. No kidding. No, I'm not telling you which ones. OK, maybe later.

There's also a link to The Seven Dwarfs of Menopause . If you have not seen this you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GO THERE! You will be sending the link to your mother, your aunt, your neighbor, and the family members of that weird church lady whom you never know how to handle. Believe me, if you haven't reached that stage in life yet, YOU EVENTUALLY WILL! And then you'll be really glad somebody GETS IT! Well, you will unless you happen to be having Psycho day, then all bets are off!

I am now adding a third post to the list because it made me laugh some and weep a little remembering a lot of fun things about my kids' teen years in the 90s. If you are one of the kids of the 90s, you'll be smiling, too. It is over at Susan's House of Hooes, and it's titled Awww, sweet nostalgia....

And I'm adding a link to a pretty cool monitor cleaner that Brandi over at O.W.IN G.S. posted yesteday. Once you see it, you'll be wanting one of your own! It's actually a multipurpose cleaning tool that is very kid-friendly.

Well, that's it for now. Don't get your feelings hurt if I haven't found anything of yours to add yet. It's a work in progress - there are more to come, I promise!

Have a great day! I'm sure going to. And then around 3:00 I'll probably have to go take a nap. This getting up early is hard on an old bod!

Peace, Blessings and Happy Clicking!

  1. Welcome to the morning! It's a glorious peaceful time. I'm usually up by 6:00 a.m. I love having a little time to myself before the day gets moving. I hope you enjoy it.

  2. I love, love, love the monitor cleaner. It's very helpful! :-) Welcome to the morning! I'm a morning person by nature and if I sleep until 6:00 AM, it's a shock. Been that way all my life. On the very few occasions that I stayed up late and slept in, I felt like I wasted half of my day. On the flip side, I do hit the hay pretty early too. Usually by 9:30-10:00 PM, I'm out like a light...much to hubby's chagrin. I'll be checking out the other stuff you added shortly.... Have a great day!! Hugs, Sandra

  3. Okay, I have to comment again. I just read the Penney's post. I really do have tears running down my face right now from laughing so hard and I may have peed a little! LOL OMGosh! My Mom used to sport some of those outfits and my hair was styled like one of those smart looking Hotties! I must have been eight years old then and I do remember the catalogs being two inches thick and going through the toy section with a pen at Christmas time to mark my *wishes*. Thanks for bringing that post to our attention. You ROCK!!! xoxo

  6. Deb - I'm probably not going to love it so much for that reason since it's normally just me and the dogs and the bird home all day long. But I'm hoping that I can get more accomplished by just being more awake. It's 4:15 now, though, and I'm seriously reallllly wanting that nap! LOL!

    Sandra - I've never been a morning person. I'm more of a night owl. And that'd be OK if Hubby could sleep through me vacuuming. LOL!

    Glad you approved of the monitor cleaner. I think every home with small children should have a similar device. And the 70s stuff? Isn't it a hoot!! I'm going to have to go drag out some old pics. I bet your mom and I had the same taste in clothes. I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much!

    BBM - Laughing gets your heart pumping. Now say thank you to Damama for making it so you didn't have to do such a tough aerobic workout today. ;o)
    ====================
    Christina - AMEN! I was likin' the morning thing until this afternoon. I'm thinkin' I should be inspecting the inside of my eyelids right now! YAWN...

    ((hugs to all!!))

  7. I'm more of the night owl variety also. I'd be happy if the day didn't start until say 9 or 10. Too bad the little ones don't see things my way. Oh well, one day my kids will be older, then I can enjoy the mornings in my nice warm bed.
    I checked out your link to the 70's Pennys catalog. Brought tears to my eyes. (I was born in '71 so I got to wear some of those fine fashions)
    Thanks fo the link to a good laugh.

  8. I was two in 1977, but I think I remember my brother having the same hair cut as the first boy (in reference to the Penney's catalog of course.

    Mom used to have my siblings and I circle and initial everything we wanted for Christmas in the JCPenney and Sears Wishbook catalogs.

    Oh, and there is a picture of my older brother and me in which we are wearing matching plaid jumpsuits. I was about three in the picture, so my sister wasn't born yet.

  9. Wow! You sound so cheerful this morning! I think I need another cup of coffee before I go clicking on your links, but thanks for sending me to new places to check out (you know, instead of working or something!). :)

  10. HI there!

    Loved the links, and you know what? Mornings are not my friends. Well they would be if they came later in the day, that is. :)

  11. I don't do mornings.

    Yet, I am forced to get up at an early hour and force my "non morning liking" children to get out of bed and get ready for school.

    I love the snooze button on my alarm clock.

  12. So did it STICK? I'VE tried to be human and do the morning thing and it isn't in my genetic makeup! LOL!

    Happy Friday to you!! Little one is off today so we are out for a day of fun at the mall!

  13. Oh my gosh I'm getting so famous!!! I knew my day would come, just had to be patient! LOL Oh and BTW, you wore those things????

  14. Loved the Seven Dwarfs of Menopause best. Thanks for the heads up!

  15. Lisa - YAY! Another night owl. Glad you liked the 70s stuff, too. Isn't it fun to remember!
    ================
    Brandi - I had already been married and divorced once by then. And my first husband had that haircut! LOLOLOL on the matching jumpsuits. I'd love to see a pic - I bet you were precious!
    =================
    Angela - Have you ever heard the saying, "Fake it until you can make it"?? I'm a reaaaaaly good faker. ;o) Enjoy your journey into the unknown. We'll leave a light on for you to find your way home!
    =================
    Jules - I have a tee-shirt that says, I like mornings. I just wish they didn't come so early. So I feel ya!! LOL!
    =================
    Jill - If they can come up with flex hours for work, why not flex hours for school? I know there are teachers out there who would love that idea, too! LOL! Snooze button is way to close to the off button on my clock, so it is NOT a good idea for me to get friendly with that little bugger!
    =================
    Lucille - I've made it for three days now. But tomorrow is Saturday. I'm scared! Hubby will want to sleep in. How can I make that lovely man feel guilty by getting up and doing things while he's sleeping on? I'm thinking that for the sake of my marriage, I may have to sleep in with him. Ahhh, the sacrifices one must make.

    Hope you had a fun day with LW! I'm expecitng a full accounting of it on Monday! xoxoxo
    ================
    Susan - Famous is good! And don't be rude. Yes, I wore those things loudly and proudly. ;o) I promise I'll go find some pics soon and show you guys. And yes, I do expect to be hearing you laugh all the way from FH! ;o) LOL!
    ================
    Motherwise!! HI!! Glad you liked the Dwarfs. I need to get back over to your world and see what's crackin'! ;o) LOLOLOL! (ok, so I tickled myself! tee hee hee!) xoxo

  16. LOL I am up at 6 am every day M-F but then sleep until 830 or 9 am on the weekends (depending on how long the kids play quietly in their own rooms...yes, they actually do!). I was a total night owl until I got this job so I can relate!

  17. I'm definitely a night owl. It's terrible for the homeschool schedule, though. The kids always seem to get up before I do. Of course, I'm up a couple hours after them to get things straightened up. I'd try to switch that to the morning, but I don't want dh to come home to a terribly messy house.

    I understand about sleeping in with the dh. Mine comes home and wakes me up if he can. When that happens, I lose 1-2 hours of sleep. I wouldn't give up that time for the world though.

  18. Hi there, so glad I stopped by. My eldest talks about you so much. So being currious, I just had to check out your blog, since she was so helpful by putting a link on her blog.

    You are witty and write very well. I clicked on the link you posted on the 13th and all the tension of the day melted away. I'm so glad you had it there.

    As for embarrasing moments, I can totally relate. (And I thought I was the only one!)

    Let us know how your resolution to get up early goes. I usually get woke up at 2:30, 3:00, and then every 5 minutes thereafter, until Hubby goes to work, and then I get up at 6:30 to get the youngest off to school, then I go back to bed until 8:30 or 9:00+.

    I think any schedule you stick to will work for you. What matters is what you get accomplished in the hours you are awake, and waking up feeling refreshed.

    Blessing to you, and I'll be back. I loved the posts.

  19. HI, Rosebud, and WELCOME!

    Thank you for all the compliments and encouragement. I'm glad you enjoy my blatherings. And as for embarrassing moments... hold tight! I have more on the way - just not so many of such a ..mmm.. delicate nature. LOL! TTFN!
