Cranky people don’t sleep well, sooooo…

I just realized something... I’m just a weeeeee bit cranky tonight! Posting a comment over at Lucille’s kind of convinced me of that. So, rather than going to bed having left everyone else cranky, too, I thought I’d tell you one of my favorite Christmas jokes. It’s not mine. I don’t know who originally wrote it, and it may be totally weird, but here goes…

Once upon a time about 10 years ago it was decreed that the State of Texas capital building in Austin and the Governor’s residence always be decked to the high heavens with the most beautiful lights and decorations. Each year the Governor hosted a media tour of the grounds applauding the donator and explaining the meaning of each piece of decoration. One year, when they got to the last decoration, a manger scene, the Governor proudly said that he had personally donated that item. It was beautifully painted and detailed in splendid colors. There was suddenly, though, a murmur of confusion and a lot of hemming and hawing around when the Governor asked if there were any questions. Finally, one brave reporter spoke up asking, “MMMM, Sir, can you please explain why the three wise men are depicted wearing those bright red firemen’s hats?” The Governor shook his head, put his arm around the young reporter, and said, “Why, son, that’s bucauz ever school child knows that them boys come from a far!”
OK – so you have to speak Texan to get it… but at least I’m laughing again now!

And if you aren’t, I DARE you to try not to laugh after this:

NOW we can all have Peace, Blessings, and baby giggly sweet dreams!

  1. Ha, ha, ha!

WOW my nice long post to your rant didn't show up. I swear my computer hates me. I'll repost it but it won't be as good as when I first read it!

  2. Awww, Luc!!! I hate when that happens! I've started copying the really long GREAT ONES so that I don't lose them if the weirdness hits again!

Glad I made you laugh, too!

  3. That was the cutest vidio clip. It actually sounded a lot like my granddaughter that I've been sending you pictures of. Have a great day.

  4. You just can't help laughing right along, can you!?!?

And, Margie, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but... mmmmm... I'M REALLY STARTING TO DISLIKE YOU! It's a shame, too, since you seem like such a nice person. But jealousy does that to us grannywannabes. We hear all the cuteness spouted by you grannydoneams and we just cannot help ourselves... It's a sad, but necessary part of our emotional survival.

LOL!! I'M JUST KIDDING!! You know I love hearing about and seeing that little cutie. And how lucky are you to get to squeeze the giggles out of her!!

    xoxo me

  5. Alright, I didn't try to watch the video clip at first. I didn't want to wait for it on my slow connection. I decided to give it a try. It isn't even downloaded all the way and my cheeks already hurt. My cheeks hurt and my husband isn't even at home. That rarely happens.

I saw it clear through and you know what came to mind?

    Several months later:

"Honey, I just don't get it. Why is the newspaper always ripped apart before I get a chance to read the sports section."

That was great! Thanks for the laugh.

  6. ROFL BRANDI! I hadn't even thought about how this "fun" would play out with a 2-year-old!

And, mmm... I'm almost afraid to ask why it is that your cheeks hurt ONLY when your hubby's at home??? Should we wash out your mouth or my brain with soap... or both??? LOLOLOL!!

  7. Damama,

I will pretend that I am too naive to figure out what you are referring to.

My cheeks usually only hurt when my husband is home because I laugh and smile so much when he is. I tend to be very somber when he isn't home. I let stress weigh me down. My cheeks hurt when I smile or laugh a lot. Obviously, I need to smile and laugh more.

  8. HA HA HA HA! Brandi, you are too cute! (and I'm sorry if I offended you! :o\ )

I'm both glad and sorry you are only truly happy when he's home. Glad, because enjoying his company so much will make those retirement years much more fun. Sorry because I remember those feelings and I now regret that I sometimes let them get in the way of some of the joy of having that extra special one-on-one time with my kids.

OOPS! See.. I just can't quit mothering people!!

    Have a great weekend!

  9. I'm a big girl, I can take it. It also doesn't hurt that I used to be in marching band and worked in a factory. No offense was taken. Actually, the more I think about it the less I'm sure about what you might have been referring to. That's alright, I don't need you to clarify.

We all need some mothering from time to time. Truth is I need to get my blood sugars under control. I am hypoglycemic now, but I have a 99.9% chance of developing Type II diabetes. There is a history of diabetes in my family and I have had gestational diabetes at least three times and was borderline for my other pregnancies.
