It's so great that you have a heart f...Hi Jennifer! It's so great that you have a heart for caring for these kids, too. But you don't have to take them all into your home. Even offering to mentor one or two or 10 or.. would help loads. In Texas there are also respite workers who take kids off of foster parents' hands for a weekend or a week, to give the FPs a much needed break.

There are so many ways to get involved. I'm sure you will find what is right for you in your now home. Trust your heart, listen to your higher power, and then act. That's all it takes to be a hero in the very sad world of deprived and homeless kids.

Love, blessings and a Merry Christmas.Damama Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00433392172815959276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3292921261406125884.post-64968247215042454002007-12-21T13:24:00.000-06:002007-12-21T13:24:00.000-06:00This brought tears to my eyes. It made me think of a song I had heard on the radio the other day about a girl who asked for a family for Christmas, and the guy who played santa (I think - I only caught part of the song) ended up taking her home to stay.

I wish I had more money and space to be able to bring more children into this crazy house. I am hoping that when I get to Honduras, that I will be able to make a difference in some of the street kids there that have no family, and have no home. I will have the space to be able to take the kids in and to help them. I hope that God gives me the means to make a difference.
~JenniferJenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05050466263238656666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3292921261406125884.post-66987436094917371482007-12-20T15:32:00.000-06:002007-12-20T15:32:00.000-06:00As my granny would have said, You done REAL good, ...As my granny would have said, You done REAL good, Mama. But all too often there just isn't enough money to go around and they have to rely on the case worker to come up with something. In this case, she just slipped through the cracks.

Thank God the rest of her story gets better. I'll post more about her later.

Sadly, though there are lots of kids out there whose story never gets any better. That's why I keep PUSHING... Pray Until Something Happens In the Name of God. He's put it on my heart to open as many eyes as I can. Consider yours now opened. And as Oprah says, once you KNOW you have to ACT LIKE YOU KNOW. Just going to the Dollar store and buying 1 gift to put it in the nearest Toys for Tots box is a great place to start.

Ok - You have packing to do, so I'll shut up now. Thanks for taking the time to stop in.

xoxo meDamama Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00433392172815959276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3292921261406125884.post-53567537860245862652007-12-20T12:59:00.000-06:002007-12-20T12:59:00.000-06:00Hey thanks for making ME cry. :)Seriously thanks f...Hey thanks for making ME cry. :)

Seriously thanks for the reminder. We get by and have very few WANTS HERE. Needs? Sometimes? But life is different now. I don't want anything. I have it or I don't need it - ya know?

Everyone keeps bugging my 6-year old with the "what do you want, what do you want" question.

Know what she said?

Isn't Christmas about Jesus and not the presents?

I've done a good job Mama, a good job.Lucillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04389051577488829610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3292921261406125884.post-5539782928473734152007-12-20T07:36:00.000-06:002007-12-20T07:36:00.000-06:00This is so sad! How blessed is he that he has a home with parents who love him and will make sure that he knows it all the time, not just at Christmas.

I know this story was sad, but if it made you think about how blessed your life is and about maybe blessing a child with no home, it accomplished what I wanted it to do.

Peace and Blessings for a warm and joyous Christmas.Damama Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00433392172815959276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3292921261406125884.post-54901026813603080472007-12-20T00:24:00.000-06:002007-12-20T00:24:00.000-06:00Angela - thanks. That's what it was meant to be: a reminder that there are bigger problems in the world than not being able to find a WII for a child who already has every game system known to man. (A friend of mine is struggling with this very *heartbreaking* issue as we speak. Yes, I'm mad at her for not being willing to do anything for kids who have NO toys or games!... Breathe Damama, Breathe!) Sorry-- venting time is over.

HOWEVER... on to another topic, can you please consider adding your other blog to your profile (or sending me the link. again.) since the only one listed is your writer one. I'm so loony that I can't find the other one to save my soul! Being *blonde* is hard. Being old is harder. Being BOTH IS UNFAIR AS HELL!
